I'm am on my way to Florida as I type this and have rods and reels strapped to the roof of the Expedition. I plan on doing 1 chartered fishing trip off shore and want to spend some time fishing in the surf, off piers or jettys, and maybe rent a kayak for a day or two. I'd like to try to catch some crabs too.

Any advice you could give an Oklahoma boy about the saltwater ways of fishing would not go unappreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I might add, I am taking a Penn pool cue style rod with a Penn bait caster reel, a medium-fast Skeet Reece bait caster combo and a medium action spinning combo.

There is alot of flats in the Tampa St.Pete area with lots of wading oppertunities. In the canals there lots of small tarpon 20 to 40 pounds dock fishing in them will slap wear ya out. Cuda are everywhere reds prowl the flats. That area is loaded with lots of different fish including Bass in lake Tarpon. Don't forget the Snook they are there too.
