Saw this on the SOG site and thought I would repost here. Took me 2 min to sign and send.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is asking for comments on a proposal to increase the amount of ethanol that must be blended into the nations fuel supply for 2015 and 2016. If adopted, these proposed levels will require the use of a record amount of ethanol, forcing higher-level fuel blends (including E15 or 15% ethanol) into more gas stations. Remember that most marine engines are built to only work with up to 10% ethanol and its prohibited to use gas containing more than 10% ethanol in allmarine engines.

More [censored] from our Gubmint. Ethanol is the biggest ponzi scheme they ever put on us. Ruins engines and costs us taxpayers billions. Ethanol production is subsidized by our tax dollars in order for them to even be able to produce it. Corn farmers are also subsidized. Takes approx 6 gallons of water to produce one gallon of pure ethanol. Stoich for a complete burn rate of ethanol is 9 to 1. Stoich for pure gasoline is 14.67 to 1. Therefore it take 1.6 times as much ethanol to produce the same amount of heat and in an internal combustion engine heat is power.
E15 gas will cause fuel mileage in the average vehicle to drop another 2 to 4 mpg.
My truck gets 22.4mpg highway on pure gas and 17.2mpg on 10% ethanol.
My Harley owners manual says I void the warranty if I run E15 in its air cooled engine.
Lots of other engine driven equipment also have warranty issues with high ethanol content fuels.
Many of us have already seen what it has done to lawn and garden equipment, chain saws, leaf blowers etc.

I added a little verbiage to my letter. Here is the text

As a recreational boat owner I am deeply concerned with the proposal (EPA-HQ-OAR-2015-0111), which will increase the mandated ethanol volumes in the nation's fuel supply to record levels. If adopted, these obligations will make it more difficult for me to find fuel that is safe to use in my boat's engine.

The proposed Renewable Volume Obligations (RVO) for 2015 and 2016 will force a greater amount of E15 and higher ethanol blends to be pushed on to the American public. It is prohibited to use E15 in my marine engine and it has been shown to cause damage. EPA should set the RVO levels so that I can be assured an adequate supply of fuel that is safe for my family's boating.

I am also very concerned that not enough has been done to prevent the mis-fueling of my boat with the higher ethanol blends. The mis-fueling mitigation plans currently available, little more than one sticker on fuel pumps, do not provide sufficient protection against my inadvertently using the wrong gasoline in my boat.

Harley Davidson owners manual states that I will void the warranty if I use E15 corn gas in my motorcycle.
How can this big subsidized Ponzi scheme help anyone.
It is killing the tax payers.

EPA must act to assure there is fuel available that will not put my engine at risk of being damaged and that I will not unintentionally put the wrong fuel in my boat or motorcycle, my lawnmower, weed eater, leaf blower, and chain saw . Thank you for your consideration of my views.

I went 6 months without using my boat due to work. When I took it out for the first time, I could hardly get it to run. As the day went by it got worse. Talked to a mechanic and he as if I put Ethanol protector in my gas. I said I did not know I needed to. He said that if you do not use the gas in 30 days it will break down the rubber hoses and anything in your fuel system that contains it. It will also break out any moisture in your fuel and it will settle in your gas tank and your clog injectors. I drained my fuel tank, changed out fuel lines and put injector cleaner in gasoline. Motor is running better, but still won't idle. All of this with just 10% ethanol. Just imagine what 15% will do. I would rather just send the corn growers and politicians that are taking the kick backs money than put any ethanol in gasoline. soap

In addition to all the motor problems,I believe it eats holes in our gas tanks also. Every Falcon boat that I know of has had at least one tank replaced.
