I bought this motor in 2011 from the original owner. He said he never used it. By never, he said he bought it brand new with plans to put it on a small boat for his Lake Fork weekend home, but never did. It sure looked brand new when I bought it.
I bought it from him and again, we never used it. I set it up on this boat with plans to go to the White River in AR or use it for creek fishing during the Crappie spawn. Due to the drought we never had water in the creeks and we never went to AR. Being a long shaft, I had a welding shop build a jack plate for it. I actually think that makes it more comfortable to operate than if it had been a short shaft motor.
I think motors should be run once in a while, so it has been taken out to a local lake and simply run a couple of laps a few times since buying it. Also, every so often I fire it up in a barrel of water vs. using the lower unit “rabbit ears.” I usually let it idle 15-20 minutes, shift the gears a few times, rev it a little, etc. I used Marine Stabil until I discovered non-ethanol gas locally and have only used that since then.
I don’t know the boat & trailer owner history other than I bough it from a THF / TFF guy at Fork. The Express is an all welded boat and doesn’t leak. I have clear titles in my name on the motor and boat. There isn’t a title on the trailer, so you will just have to call it homemade and register it. Being under 4,000 GVW it still appears easy to do: http://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/buying-or-selling-a-vehicle/trailers
I will take $2,950 for it in Sulphur Springs. NADA Guides has $1,800 on the motor, $760 on the boat, and $225 on the trailer. I would assume NADA Guides would value this motor based on eleven years of use. Except for the sunburned cowling this motor is like brand new! I suspect it has five hours or less on it.
Partial gun trade considered---Quality name brand 223 bolt action rifle, and older but excellent condition 12 gauge Remington Wingmaster or Ruger 10/22 would work. Open to many others including multiple guns, just throw it out there.
