I know they probably can't afford to go out west to places like havasu but I like how BASS thinks outside the box for some interesting venues like the sabine, delaware, or st. lawrence, look at the crowds they are getting at these places, they have really been mixing up the schedule the last few years.

I just can't understand why at least two events from the majors (BASS Elite series and this one) aren't scheduled in Texas every year. I consider Texas to be the highest tournament participation state in the nation yet they seem to almost never come here............

I think you will see an elite series event in texas next year, rayburn, toledo or sabine again are most likely, I suppose falcon or amistad is possible as well, there have been some surprises the last few years and with the lakes filled up you never know if they might finally come to somewhere close to DFW like ray roberts...

Pickwick and Kentucky from a tv viewers standpoint in my opinion is almost like the same event to me. Off shore fishing. Dont get me wrong, its fun watching them catch monsters and the lakes are deserving. I just wish if they are going to fish both those lakes make one early in the season instead of back to back. Would love to see what the prespawn and spawn bite up shallow is like at those lakes.

Larger events rely heavily on host fees and host locations that want events in their counties and on their fisheries. BASS and FLW events aren't cheap and Texas traditionally will not put up the funds necessary to host an event. BASS is willing to spread their footprint a little more but make no mistake they don't do it without a host agreement. It's a business.

I remember this now from a previous discussion and you'd think as wealthy as the state of Texas is we'd have the majority of all major tournaments here.......

If you want to get really mad look how much the State of Texas subsidizes the Formula One race in Austin every year. You could host a FLW and BASS event EVERY year for 50 years for what they pay just a single year Formula One.

Its absolutely ridiculous, you could have an indycar AND nascar race there every year for a fraction of the price and both would put on a better show by far, I'd guess the attendance for the first nascar race would be higher than the last few F1 races.

I agree with you and I'm a huge F1 fan. attendance has dropped every year, I'm not even going this year. no passing and cars aren't even loud enough to require ear protection.

I guess Texas is trying to empress the tea and crumpets crowd from Europe.......
I think pro bass fishing could draw a lot more money and attention if it just wasn't so expensive, generally people won't be interested in a sport that they can't afford to play.
Look at the popularity of golf and the PGA. Don't need a $50K to $80K worth of transportation plus a tow vehicle that cost almost as much to participate. Just a good set of clubs, green fees, entry fees, a lot of talent and a lot of will power and its on, with pay outs the top 25 or so can easily live off of, you can't say that about pro bassing.........

I was there when they announced the schedule. I was thinking man 2017 years schedule will the same as 2015. It is boring seeing them fish the same place over and over and over again.

I think you are absolutely right, pro golf is the only spectator sport that is seeing gains in attendance nation wide, a few are holding steady like pro football but everything else attendance is declining including college football.
