Plan on coming down Monday the 20th until Sunday the 26th. Plan on doing some alligator gar fishing...I've been told the trinity is roaring right now...so I was just wondering how that is affecting the gar bite. I am friends with a guy who has land along the trinity southeast of Dallas aways. So that's where I'll be I've had pretty good luck there before when I lived down there...any tips appreciated..I'm trying to catch a trophy so I can get a replica made and donate it to my local bait shop wall up here in topeka, ks.

The Trinity is still flooded and not projected to change up here for a long time, hence no reports from this area.

What's a good tactic for fishing for them in high water?

Get out of the current if you can. If you can't get out of the current your gonna have trouble. Please be careful if your in a boat.

We will be in my 12ft flat bottom. So places with no current is where they will be? And don't worry. I always practice safety first!! Thank you!!

I was not being a cocky prick as you put it .obviously you didn't read what I posted ,it's tough conditions and I dang sure wouldn't go on the river in a 12 ft boat right now
I produce big alligator gar every week for my clients
Obviously I am doing something right that's why I fish 7 days a week for alligator gar and am sponsored by numerous companies.

Capt. I took it the way you sent it. You do this for a living and know a heck of a lot more than the casual gar fisherman about your water conditions and where the fish are.

Duck if you would be a bit more humble and give back more than you take from the TFF you would get even MORE respect from all of us.When you make post littling others catches or abilities it makes many of us dought the pure joy that texas fishing should be.

Maybe give back to the TFF some Duck. Many of your posts just sound like advertisements for your business.

Duck, the moderaters here at the TFF have asked you to contribute to the site. I'm having trouble seeing it, it takes more than telling people to get off the river, but I can understand your concern for others safety.Sometimes you come across as sounding like an honory advertisement for your business. I think that was what ruffled feathers here. "I am still catching alligator gar in the river but most people are not its probably too high for you to catch them right now
My clients have had 4 fish over 200 lbs this year"

I've seen Captain Kirk and Dawson Hefner post dozens if not hundreds of helpful comments on technique, bait, hook types, etc. This is the peak of guiding season right now and conditions are indeed not great. On top of that, fishing 7 days a week starting every morning super early for people that have flown in from the other side of the world hoping for the fish of a lifetime.

I'd bet Kirk is awful sorry he didn't have the time to explain his entire strategy for catching them in high water, but from my stand point I'd say the "cocky pr*ck" comment was a heck of an overreaction.
