83 hz vs 200hz

when drop shotting do ya'll use 83 or 200? I know 83 is smaller cone so a more precise beam, but it's so hard to find my ds on 83... 200 I can find it all day but in my mind I know it's not as accurate. What's yalls opinion?

200khz. I keep my 2D on 200khz and downscan at 455khz (I just like how those two frequencies look). 83khz is actually the bigger cone. The lower the frequency, the wider the cone and the deeper the sound waves travel. I suppose, if I was dropshotting 150ft, I'd use 83khz.

Hhhmmm I went to a seminar and the hummingbird guy explained opposite... Smaller the cone 83 the tighter beam. Maybe I was misunderstood. I know at 200 I can see my ds easily and at 83 it a pain

You'll get a clearer picture if you keep the settings at 200/800 and turn noise rejection to OFF or low. if lowrance HDS set it to SHALLOW WATER. Here's another diagram:
