Wow, no Texas lakes when most are full these days?

Like all tours and circuits, they go where the Chamber of Commerce's or Tourism Board's make the most attractive deal.

For the most part, business as usual. They need to branch out a little

FLW is ridiculous. They have maybe 15 different bodies of water in their rotation. Boring.

15 good paying cities. That is all.

I'm starting to think that is inline with their business plan. Their priority is filling up a 150 boat series and best way for them to do that is a Southeast series only. Most of the Tour guys don't want to travel west or north too far. Only reason they do Beaver is Walmart. Considering more tour anglers from Texas than any other state you think they would hit every other year. Over last 10 years I believe the business has changed from how high can you float to keep from sinking too deep.

I guess having a waiting list year after year is "sinking too deep"? Plenty of young willing guys to step up and enter year after year....even with a sucky economy. Even when the price goes up. (Speaking about the Tour level).

I could all but guarantee that there are plenty of cities around that would be willing to pay more than what they are getting. It doesn't even have to be Texas.

Table Rock (Branson)
Dardanelle (Russellville)
St. Clair (Detroit)
Erie (Buffalo)
Oneida/Cayuga (Syracuse)
Mississippi Rive (any city you want)
Red River (Shreveport)

FLW must have some long term contractual obligations or something. Doesn't make any sense to keep visiting the same places repeatedly.

Looks like a pretty typical FLW schedule.

exactly my point, they keep a strong demand with just a Southeast series. Also only 6 events allows the field to be FILLED with part timers and not only full time pros. the majority of FLW Tour guys have other jobs or retired where the majority of BASS Elites are full time pros.

a few minor points in regards to floating high in years past...

1) They got rid of the Majors although the Majors had healthy fields.

2) FLW set up unique model where they went out to get the big sponsors and limited sponsors anglers could have, the benefit was top anglers got "team deals'. How many fewer team deals are there today than before? Are you telling me Forest Wood Cup champion Anthony Gagliardi didn't even get a team deal?

3) Up through 2009 winners of tour events got $200k (go Mark Pack!) and 2nd got $50k, it is now $125k and 2nd gets $30k.
