I'm thinking about selling my older skeeter and buying mid 2000 z7. I'm interested in information from anyone that has owned one and can tell me the good and bad about it. Any info would be helpful when I go looking at them. Tks.

Purchased a new one in 2012 with a Pro XS 150...

PROS
Fishes 2 fairly good
Lots of storage
Large front deck
Overall quality is decent

CONS
Shallow front gunnels...very easy to kick rods overboard
Somewhat uncomfortable ride in choppy water
A little underpowered with 150

$ for $ it's the best boat made. Especially if you buy a used one with a 200hp. I've owned 2 of them. I've had Champion, Triton, Skeeter ext.. I'm Running a 2015 Ranger 520c this year, and will be running a Z7 next year. Do I think there are better boats out there? Sure there are, but not for under $25,000.

Hey boss, wanna elaborate on why you would go from a 2015 520 to a Z7? If not for financial reasons that seems ridiculous.

You are running a ranger this year but plan to run a nitro next year? I think that may be the first time that has ever been said without a very large check behind it....... As far as nitro.. the price is good on them but you cannot resale them. There is a guy on here that has tried to unload his for over a year, on the flip side I posted a champion on here and had it sold in 3 days...... Not bragging one bit but would be very nervous about the nitro boats resale value unless you are going to run it for 400 hours. And before I get attacked from nitro owners, this is no way a slam on nitro boats at all.

Not much more so than another pro running a Xpress x19 with no transducer. When your dropping 40k plus to fish the tour a year, either you gotta cash some good checks or cut cost somewhere. Not everyone has to have a 70k dollar boat to compete.

It took over 6 months to sell my Ranger(showroom clean), so it can be tough with any of them at times. My Nitro Z7 is an awesome fishing rig and I've owned 2 other Nitros and they sold fairly quick. I feel confident it sometimes relates to local economy and timing of sale along with fair pricing.

Price may have dictated the sale of the ranger. I'm not saying nitro boats are bad I'm just wondering how people go from ranger to nitro without a sponsorship or the likes.

Who cares why...that is James' business.

The OP simply wanted the pros and cons of a Z7.

To my knowledge living the dream package only covers one year with boat and truck. Fishermen catch fish. Not the boat!

I run a 2008 Z7 with an optimax 150.
Pros:
Lots of storage
Large front deck
Good ride in chop
Reasonably priced
Fishes great
Cons:
Hole shot sucks(under powered needs a 200)
Stress cracks every where
Carpet and seats are [censored]
Pushes a single axle trailer to the limit(needs a tandem axle)
