Step #1. Catch the fish. Step #2. Get the fish weighed by a certified scale. (Scale that had been calibrated by a State certified scale company with in the past year.)#3. Take three photos. A. Photo of Angler holding fish. B Photo showing the length of fish. C. Photo of the girth of fish. Step #4. Complete the records application from Parks&Wildlife. (You can down load the application from their web site. Step #5. Send the completed Application along with the three photos to the Texas Parks&Wildlife. The address is on the application.

If you have any questions on the process you can contact Ron Smith who is the the head of the Angler Recognition program. His number is on the Parks&Wildlife web site. Never met the man but have talked to him a lot. Great guy! cheers

Side Note: All you need is a picture of the fish's length and a picture of the angler holding the fish. A witness also needs to witness the release of the fish. eeks All the rules are posted on the Parks&Wildlife site.

Thanks Chuck. In your other thread, the record Redbreast was under 10", but C&R must be longer than 10". hmmm I don't understand that?

Weight records do not need a minimum length. Catch&Release records do. The rules for all records can be found on the Parks&Wildlife Web Site. thumb

A lot of anglers do not care one way or the other for records. I think it is a very good program that TPW has going. You can go to their web page and see for your self how many big fish of all types that have been caught off of a water body. That is just one aspect of the program and there are many more. Great program. Just my two cents.
