Has anyone tried to fly with flies before, particularly saltwater flies? I'm heading to Florida on Thursday and I've tied a bunch of Grassett's Snook Minnows, but didn't even think that Uncle TSA might try to capture them. Any advice or thoughts? I really don't want to check any luggage...

I have never had a problem with large streamers for trout. I just make sure they are in a box, in a jacket, in my waders, in the carry-on.

You might want to check with your airline first.

I always put my fly boxes in checked luggage, myself, and have never had a single problem all over the World.

Personally, I don't trust the TSA's judgment on anything. You might consider overnighting them to yourself C/O your hotel, guide, or whomever you're staying with and call ahead and tell them it's coming. Just my thoughts. cool

In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.
