I need to buy a pair of kick fins to use with a float tube. These will be for use when wearing heavy socks, waders, and neoprene booties. I'm looking at the Outcast Float Tube Fins. Have any of you guys and gals used these fins? Would like feed-back and recommendations before placing an order. Thanks.

As a diver and angler, I must admit I was a little suspect at what I perceived to be poor design and apparent low quality of float tube fins sold at shops like Cabela's and Bass Pro. Many of them reminded me of something you might find in the Kmart pool toy section. My suspicions were confirmed when my brother bought a pair from bass pro and raged about how uncomfortable and tiring they were. I guess they are something of a niche item, but still those tiny fins still look exhausting to use. I know some of them are designed to be walked in, flip up, etc, but I really think that's ever a great idea, its just asking for a fall. I'd much rather have some that go on an off easier.

Most divers have gone to fins specifically designed to be worn with neoprene booties. The straps are click adjustable for a precise fit and then once you get the tension just right, another button releases the strap entirely. This makes them a cinch to off, to get them off, just press one button to take the tension out, slip them on, then yank the strap as tight as you want. A physical therapist recently gave me a 2 out of 10 on her flexibility scale, so if I can do it, anyone can. (No offense intended, but the cinch down straps on the ones you were looking at look like they'd take me a month to get on and off. )

I personally wear the Cressi Frog series (lots of options on amazon for $90 or less. They are super comfortable and have proven to be bullet proof. I've literally yanked them onto my kayak shoes, neoprene flats boots and of course my dive boots. Always proven super comfortable to use for hours and give amazing torque for propulsion. They've been pitched out of the water onto dive boats, concrete docks, rock banks, etc. and I have yet to break them. Made in Italy and a preferred brand of many Special Operations swimmers (so I was told at the dive shop).

Anyhow, best of luck, just my two cents and probably worth about as much.
