Has anyone fished the stretch below the dam to Dick's recently?
Hows the water level, etc?

I just paddled the first mile down and back a few hours ago. The water is about 3 feet higher than normal so things look a lot different. My usual favorite spots had too strong of flow so it took a little while to figure them out. Obviously the waters not as clear as it usually is. I caught a few decent bass though. They were all shallow for me. There were more people fishing than I've ever seen there before, but they were all right at the dam in the strong current (after stripers maybe? idk).

The lake level is just about one foot above normal right now, and I'm thinking that the COE may restrict the flow once they reach normal pool level - or soon thereafter. If they do (and who knows what lurks in the minds of the COE?) then next weekend could see the river back to normal flow. Maybe. I hope. At the moment they are letting our 3,300 cfs.

A buddy and I went fishing there yesterday and had a great day of fishing. Got there around 9:30 and river was low, running at about 3-400 cfs, but by 12 they opened the dam and fishing got a little tougher. Before the dam opened the visibility was pretty good. We floated from the dam to dicks, only really fished the upper half of the river due to time. My buddy was using a chartreuse lizard and was killing the bass while I was throwing a white clouser minnow and catching them but not as many as him. I'd say around 3-4 o'clock we ran into a mother load of good size striper, I bet we sat in one spot for 2-3 hours. It was like clock work every 3-4 casts we land one. Spotted a pile of largemouth, carp, striper and gar.

Was that striper below Whitney or PK? The river where you are standing doesn't look familiar ...

That's a fun size stripe right there.
