I'm thinking about putting a floor in the boat so just maybe I don't trip and fall out.

I seen a video with some kind of foam put down between the ribs then covered with a rubber mat. Some with the foam and aluminum plate. Then there's the old plywood and carpet routine.

Those that have put floors in, what did you use?

Over twenty years ago I used the old plywood and carpet routine and it was big improvement over trying to dodge those ribs. It also made the boat a lot quieter.

I'm sure there are better ways of doing it now. I had that boat for about ten years after I put the floor in and it was still good but I kept it either in the garage or covered with a tarp most of that time.

i did mine a couple of weeks ago. i put the pink foam from HD in between the ribs then put treated ply down covered with carpet. Found some good outdoor gray carpet at the HD for cheap too, it was a remnant. Works great, no tripping and the carpet doesnt get as hot as that aluminum

Be careful putting treated wood in direct contact with aluminum. The two don't play well together.

I placed wood of the ribs covered with carpet and it turned out pretty good. I'm thinking about building a frame out of aluminum next year to raise the front half of the boat.

Thanks for the replies. I bought the supplies to go the wood/carpet route but spied something at work that would work nicely (if he let's me have it).

Man I had forgotten all about this thread. Anyway bossman give me a rather crazy look when I hit him up. Since that's off the table and I'm really not wanting wood, I'm going to run it by a custom boat shop one day and see what they'll charge to cut couple pieces of aluminum to lay in the bottom.

What flooring option did you go with [Re: BKT] #11605414 05/16/16 02:25 PM

How did your floor workout? <y wood floor is soft so I am looking at options for a floor. I like the foam and horse stall carpet idea, except that the horse carpet is black and will get very hot.
If you had the work done in the DFW area, who did you choose and would you recommend them?

Horse stall pads that I know of are extremely heavy per square foot; I can't imagine them being practical as boat flooring for that reason alone, regardless of color.

If you're asking me, I went ahead and made the floor out of wood before the Mrs. went swimming or twisted an ankle. I'll probably upgrade to an aluminum floor one day.
