Nice job and great report... Sandies have been surfacing north of the bridge around the golf course

Great job for first-timers... you looked disappointed having the whole lake to yourself, lol
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

I was smiling in the inside! The wind and sun after 10 hours had beat me down.

Nice job.
I got a late start (9 am) and couldn't catch any shad. I tried cast-netting some in the cove at Holiday Marina with no luck. Can you normally catch em there? Where do I need to be looking for bait?
My dad and I ended up just trolling around the damn and around the point just to the south of Sun Point. I'm not sure the name of that point but it makes a nice drop from 17 down to 35. We had our best luck there. We ended up catching nothing but about 3 short stripers, 1 sand bass, and one 18 inch hybrid that we tossed back. We fished till about noon and had to get back.
A slow day but there was a nice breeze to combat the heat, the boat ran good and it was nice to get out there with my dad.

I had never been on the lake and the wife wanted to see the State Park so that's where we launched. I run two bait wells and caught probably 50-60 shad in the willows right next to the pier. Lots of our bait was small 2-3" shad but it didn't matter. They were eating everything we dropped down. We fished all the Holiday humps and everywhere along the dam. Made a big U. Ended at Sun Point and that's where all the action was.

I've never had a problem getting shad at the State park. guess I need to start launching over there again.
