Fished all over the lake until noon. 2 Short Hybrid and about 10 Sand Bass to show for it. After lunch we headed to Sun Point and found a nice ledge that dropped from around 30' to 45' rather sharply. Marked fish in 34 fow and set up. Hammered fish for hours. 20-25 keeper Hybrids. Nothing really big but lots of solid fish. Released all but 5 that probably wouldn't have survived. The only short fish were a few Sandies and a few short Stripers. Fished until we ran out of bait and left them biting. All of the fish were caught at 28' to 29' deep on live bait. Nothing hit the Slabs or Sassy Shad. Never marked many fish other than Sand Bass anywhere else. No other boat in sight the whole time at Sun Point. The point may be called something else but Lake Master labeled it Sun Point. Hope it helps you guys out tomorrow. I'll be on Richland Chamber bright and early.

Nice job and great report...
Sandies have been surfacing north of the bridge around the golf course

Great job for first-timers... you looked disappointed having the whole lake to yourself, lol

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

I was smiling in the inside! The wind and sun after 10 hours had beat me down.

Nice job.

I got a late start (9 am) and couldn't catch any shad. I tried cast-netting some in the cove at Holiday Marina with no luck. Can you normally catch em there? Where do I need to be looking for bait?

My dad and I ended up just trolling around the damn and around the point just to the south of Sun Point. I'm not sure the name of that point but it makes a nice drop from 17 down to 35. We had our best luck there. We ended up catching nothing but about 3 short stripers, 1 sand bass, and one 18 inch hybrid that we tossed back. We fished till about noon and had to get back.

A slow day but there was a nice breeze to combat the heat, the boat ran good and it was nice to get out there with my dad.

I had never been on the lake and the wife wanted to see the State Park so that's where we launched. I run two bait wells and caught probably 50-60 shad in the willows right next to the pier. Lots of our bait was small 2-3" shad but it didn't matter. They were eating everything we dropped down. We fished all the Holiday humps and everywhere along the dam. Made a big U. Ended at Sun Point and that's where all the action was.
