I had a small club tournament today on Granbury. Only three fish were weighted in and the biggest was only about 3.5lbs. Lots of dinks caught but its hard to catch anything over 16 inches right now. All the fish caught were skinny, skinny. Crank baits and jigs did the most damage. The water color is stained but fishable. My wife and I did get into a school of feeding stripers which was fun. First one we caught we thought we had the tournament won, lol. Not only did I zero but the wife out caught me two to one. I doubt I'll be living that down any time soon!

I was out this morning, and was ready to call it. Finally threw on a lipless and caught 6 or so. All but one wouldn't weigh and even it way maybe 2 lbs at best. I think I'm done with that place for a while until things clear up.

Bridgeport is in the same shape. Fished a working mans tournament on Thursday night and had a 5 fish limit that only weighed 2.23lbs. Fished this morning and had the same result. It's going to take a long time for these lakes to get back to normal.

"New math"? How can it be two to one if you had zero? :-) Ya, Granbury has been tough with the releases. The Brazos in my backyard below Granbury looks lower and clearer the last few days so the lower releases should allow the water to clear soon.

Fishing has been tough lately, but the most disturbing thing is that most of the bass you catch are very skinny as txfsh reported. One would think that the fishing is slow because the increased water flooding the vegetation is providing an abundance of forage. However, if this was the case, any bass caught would be fat and healthy. Sadly, such is not the case. In fact, I recall that the majority of the bass I caught when the Granbury water level was 10+ feet lower were very fat and healthy.

To be fair, the few that I caught today were in pretty nice shape. The one that went 2lbs had a nice little belly going. There's definitely plenty of forage for them, I think they are just thrown off by all the new water. It's been quite a while since their environment has been anywhere near the way it is now.

It is tough right now, but I keep thinking the little fish are getting caught cause there is so much water and food the older fish are set up laughing at us. They send the little young fella's out to nibble on our bait cause they don't need to eat. When the water was low it was such a fight for food the big one's were there to take the bait. Kinda the pond theory and now after a few years of getting bit I am having to learn how to fish again and go find them. LOL just my thoughts.

Your probably right. I know they are there, they're just thumbing they're noses at us. I can't complain about the dinks to much, thats a sign of a good fishery. Those are the future ten pounders. Not to mention that the water is finally up to where I can use my boat again instead of my kayak.
