I'm tired of being pushed around by an 8-10 mph wind. I think I will get the 10 ft because it is more apt to fit in my garage. Is there a cheaper way to get one other than letting Bass Pro install it for me? I think I need a mount that requires removing the engine, out of my league. Does anyone sell these for less than msrp? Either way, I'm getting one.

You will be glad you bought it. I believe, a rebate is still going on for up to $300 for the 12' model. You will need and engine sandwich or if you have one, a jackplate mounting bracket for the Talon. If you concerned about putting it in the garage, get the fold over bracket but, I put my rig under a carport (basically the same size opening as a garage door - even with a white 360 degree light mounted on top of my Talon, fits easily. But there may be situations when you want to fold it over. Check in on the rebate....save a lot of $$$$ My marine mechanic in my signature installed mine for me. Did a GREAT JOB !! His name is Cal, many here know him and his work, call him and check. God Bless

For an aluminum boat would suggest a Motorguide XI5 trolling motor as much more useful year round because you can use it in any depth and less expensive. Have a Talon on a 21 Triton and the XI5 on a Bass Tracker. During the past 12 months have used the neat features of the XI5 every time I go out in the Tracker. It makes fishing in windy conditions in an aluminum quite enjoyable.
After the spring, only time I have been using the Talon on the Triton is when I beach the boat. Now if they could put the Anchor Lock and Heading features from the XI5 into a new Motorguide Tour Edition 36V, would be putting that one on the big boat.

Good decision. Just FYI, my 10 ft talons are 80 inches above ground on my nitro. No swing bracket needed for garage parking.

Have you considered a Powerpole micro? From everything I've read it will hold your tracker just fine and is only $595. You can get either a 8 foot stakeout pole or any other length you desire as all the 3/4 inch poles will fit. Lots of kayakers use them but they were more designed for boats like your tracker and shallow flats boats. You can pull the pole out of the device and lay it flat on the deck if going under a tree, bridge or for garage storage. You could easily install 2 of them of if desired. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Ht2A3tP74

I have a talon on my tracker. I ordered off the net and installed it myself which turned out to be very simple. No regrets!

Zaner, I thought you needed the bracket that required pulling the engine, did you drill holes in your boat?

I have a 18' aluminum crestliner that I put a Talon on. I just mounted it to the boat. Wasn't all that hard to do. A helper will make it easier.
