I was out at Fayette yesterday and there were two orange buoys floating about 40 ft apart from each other along the dam. Just curious does anyone know what these buoys are about?

It was good as always at fayette. The water temp at the dam was 95 degrees. We caught some solid 4-5 lb bass on 1/2 oz football jigs. Saw a few dead fish floating around though. There are definitely better times of year to fish fayette. If it wasn't so close to home for me I wouldn't be back on Fayette until October.

The TPWD may be doing a gill net survey.

Those are hoop nets. TPWD is doing a hoop net survey for catfish.

Ahh that makes sense, there were lots of fish showing up on the sidescan and we saw a coon swimming away from it with a catfish in his mouth... Thanks I bet that's what it was.

TPWD biologists are sampling the catfish population in Fayette with hoop nets.

The nets will be picked up next week.

Please do not disturb the nets.

If you have any questions, please call the Inland Fisheries Management office in San Marcos (512-353-0072).
