Myself and Mike "USMC-GY" fished a couple of creeks and the bite was good. We started at 9am and fished the Cibolo Creek first. We caught a couple of nice Rios in the 10"range and plenty of fat Bluegill in the 7 to 8 inch range. Several nice Bass in the two pound range and some nice Longear rounded out the catch. Both float and bottom techniques were used. Worms, jigs, and small spinner baits were used. Fish were holding in deep pockets 4 to 5 feet and were by brush piles and tree overhangs. We then headed to Martinez Creek and the bite continued to be good. We caught a bunch of fat Bluegill in the 7 to 8 inch range and a couple of small bass. Bottom and float techniques were used and fish were in shallow water 1 to 3 feet deep. All fish were released to fight again. After a day of creek fishing we had a super brunch at the Converse Jack In the Box. Good creek action. It just don't get any better. fish

Thanks Jamie for the reply! cheers Kind of got the summer Sunfish bite down. hmmm They seem to like biting between 9 and 11 AM. breakdance As for the Rios it is hard to say. nuts Usually they won't bite anything while guarding their nest. hammer However when their hunger bell goes off you can get some nice ones. hooked

Side Note: Creeks are in excellent shape! coolio

Looks like you guys had a nice relaxing day of fishing. That latest flood has really changed the land scape on that creek! How about the inner city creeks like the Salado or Leon. Has the land scape changed much on them? Also it's great seeing some Rios! Looks like the Cibolo and the Comal River are the only places producing Rios? What is up with that?

Side Note: Love that Jack In the Box!

Thanks "Gitter" for the reply. cheers This has been the toughest year I have had trying to catch a Rio. hammer I have caught some nice ones but they have been very hard to catch. hide2 This time of year I along with fishing buddies are usually catching 5 to 10 trophy Rios each time we head out. eeks Now it's three or four nice Rios every other trip. nuts Lots of rain, major flooding, and colder water temperatures have played major factors in the Rio bite this year. taz Hopefully the bite will pick up from here on! coolio

You can tell by the number of Rio post this year compared to past years. There has not been that many. I can remember reading a lot of post referencing the Salado Creek as a very good Rio fishery. You catching countless Rios off of that creek over the years. Now totally nothing. You would think there would be a few somewhere on that creek. Also Don't read anymore Leon Creek Reports! I agree with you. All of this flooding did not help the Rio bite at all!

Side Note: Have you fished the Leon this year? Also any Rios on the Martinez or the Saltrillo Creeks? I know you have fished those creeks a lot.

I have not fished the Leon this year but plan to hit it in the near future. eeks You are right the heavy rain fall the creek flooding along with the water being let out of Canyon Lake has messed up the Rio bite this year. bang Still been catching a few nice ones but nothing like past years. nuts The bite will get better. coolio

Drove by one of the local creeks the other day and it looked really good from the road. Looks like things are getting back to normal. Hopefully the Rios will make a comeback.
