Good evening everyone. I am down at canyon lake for vacation and I would like to fish for some Guadalupe bass. I have a spinning rod with me and no kayak or canoe or boat. I was curious if any of you had any suggestions about:

1. Where can I go for some somewhat people free Guadalupe bass fishing?
2. What setup should I have (weight of line, lures/colors, etc.)?
3. Anything else that could be helpful (maybe even future purchase ideas for next trip)?

Thank you for your help.

If the guadalupe river's back to flowing at a good level, rent a float tube from one of the outfitters. Bring a medium 8-10 lb spinning or casting rig and a small collection of plastic craws or cranks/topwaters. I'd pitch or drag a 1/8 oz green pumpkin zoom speed craw around fishy spots. Dont worry about the crowds. The fish are still there and they'll still eat even in the middle of 100 float tubers.

You can also wade in the river in places like Guadalupe River State Park. Use a small balsa Rapala and a #3 Mepps spinner. T-rigged, 4" worms work well, too. Cast upstream or into slack water or an eddy.

Any other lure tips? What type of rapala other than the color? Lots to choose from.
