I went to Pier 36 once looking for some ice. What a dump. Franks Marina, the other of two marinas on Lake Belton is in pretty much the same shape. What is it about marina operators that just don't want to spend money to maintain their facilities?

I live near Belton. Pier 36 is trashy, there are a lot of good folks that have boats and barges out there. The issue is the owner, he hires these losers to work for him. Many looked like they just got out of prison. Pier 36 actively avoided cleaning up or enforcing regulations. I spent weeks cleaning the shoreline around that area 100's of barrels of bottles cans, just garbage. When I asked employees to help me they said the owner didn't want them cleaning up. Many of those barges have showers and toilets, but there is no plumbing to empty them and they don't move. Where is all that sewage going??? Yup you guessed it in the water. They need to clean that whole place up and get a new owner with a plan to modernize the docks and the facilities. I don't think franks comes anywhere close to how pier 36 was run.

Sallysue, I cleaned up 3 huge garbage bags of bottles cans and trash on the shore around the sportsman's club last time I was there. The club is well maintained, it is difficult to police the actions of people using the shoreline. Some people have no respect for nature.
