Howdy y'all. My dad is in town this weekend and I figured the student would take the old salty master out to try our luck for a few sandies, hybrids, or stripers. Was going to go tomorrow, but too much house work to do and there is a tourney, correct?

Question - any good summer patterns right now? Are hybrids/whites still showing up around Sun Point? What about the Holiday hump or over by the dam?

Slabs still the way to go? I'm still yet to successfully locate fish on my fish finder and catch them by dropping down to them with slabs. What about sassys, or should I just focus on live shad? I'm going to try to keep some shad alive, but I will drift and drop-shot fresh dead shad if I have to. Any birds or topwater action early in the morning?

I'm really hoping to put the old man on some hybrids becuase he's a saltwater guy (I am too really) and I want to remind him how fun it can be to hook into a hybrid wtih some shoulders!

thanks and God bless!

Been there all week camping and fishing
Live shad didn't work
Slabs were the only thing catching for me
Saw no birds working
Hybrid bite was not there for me nor one of the guides I talked to
Brought home two limits sand bass a single hybrid and a single striper
Fishing points and humps
All fish caught 12'-18' of water
Looks like the thermocline has set in around 23' of water

Fish a lot, catch a little

Ended up with 3 short stripers, one 18 inch hybrid (released), and one small sandie. I couldn't catch any shad so we just ended up trolling hell-pets along the point to the south of Sun Point and around the west side of the damn. I was marking quite a few fish but they seemed pretty tight lipped so I didn't even try slabbin. Got a late start and only fished till about noon. Pretty disappointing but it was nice to be out there even just for a few hours.

Anyone else have any better luck?

Me and the wife caught 50+ sandbass from 1-4pm on Sunday. No hybrids or Stripers. On white slabs.

Thanks. Not too bad. I think I've seen you out on the lake before. Once last year when I had the Black 22' Majek Xtreme. The only reason I know that is because you have the only other Majek other than a game warden that I've seen on TWAK.

Awesome. Well let me know next time you are headed out there! I'm trying to see if I can head back this Sunday.
