I have never used anything but mono. 90% of what I fish are ponds, lake shore, although I do have a buddy with en empty seat every month or so.

I carry one rod that would probably be considered a worm rod, but I use it for plastics, cranks, and frogs.

Id kind of like to try braid, but don't want to invest if its not going to be good for my uses.

Any recommendations please?

well....if you only have 1 rod to use...I wouldn't use Braid....I would use a 15-17lb flouro....it will suit your needs for just about everything. Only real reason to use braid if you haven't used it before would be on a frog rod or a heavy flippin stick. If you are froggin in nasty stuff or flipping gnarly junk, you wont need braid.

Lots of people use 10-20lb braid as main line and use a flouro/mono leader....you may try that if you want.....

I tried braid and ended up not really liking as much as I thought I would. I really hated when I got a knot in the line it was impossible to untangle and had to end up cutting it and retying a lot. Everyone's different. Only thing I did like was the strength I never broke it off thats for sure! I usually use 12lb mono for most of my fishing needs. Recently I decided to try some flouro for the leader on my fly line. One of my buddies had some 8lb seaguar red label it has a 6lb diameter and that was perfect as I was using 6lb mono and getting broke off a lot. I haven't broke off the 8lb flouro yet its very strong. I'm thinking of trying some 12 lb flouro on one of my spinning reels now.
