I'm planning a trip with my son to Lake Belton and maybe also Stillhouse Hollow for a couple of days the first week of August. Never been to either. I hear there is multi species of bass at both. Largemouth, Smallmouth, Whites and Hybrids. Any info or recent reports on any and all would be appreciated. Also, have never done any Smallmouth fishing but would love to catch a few. I've heard it is pretty fun.
Thanks for any input.

Both lakes fishing brutally tough right now. Hopefully will improve as lake levels stabilize.

Most if not all smallmouths are gone from stillhouse. Belton has a bunch of all the species you mentioned. The are releasing a lot of water from belton. Haven't been but I always catch fish there.

Whites n hybrids are chewing away all over Belton. Black bass and smallies can be tough with them running the discharge everything is stirred up. Best bet is to use your graphs, if you don't see shad scattered around move on.
