Need advice on guide on lake Hamilton or ouachita. I can catch stripers on local lakes. My brother in law has MD and I want to gurantee him some action. Really don't care species. Just wanted to get him on fish. Not much time left.

The wife and I did a fishing trip at Ouachita at the end of June, fishing was tough, but did manage our limits on stripers, I think fish is slow up there.

This was a guided trip, and they had to go else where to get their shad, and I don't remember where they said.

A lot of the guides go over to Little Rock and catch bait on the Arkansas river, thats what I do also. It is a major pita.

Ouachita is the better lake. The dam area and main lake deep points is what you need to focus on!

I've only fished Lake Hamilton but I would think it would be a better and more enjoyable option this time of the year. Fish the tailrace--it is cool...almost cold up there. water will be 20+ deg cooler and fish seem to stack depending on how much water is being released. Getting bait is tough due to water clarity. If you look at the records I believe they are from Hamilton.

Maybe if you have a down rigger, we were catching in 50-60 feet of water.

We did see several boats trolling as well, so I guess it does work.

Yes, they will...but Ouachita has a lot of submerged trees and islands and things you WILL get hung up in...but they work.
