I thought I would post this just as an alert, meant to do it last week but just have not had the time. Our Basscat Puma FTD was broken into sometime on or after the 4th of July from our storage unti off Hwy 17 north of Alba at Lake Fork.

They did over $2K worth of damage to the fiberglass and carpet as a result of the thieves prying off the Loc-R-bar. In addition, they stole all 18 rods and all 10 Plano boxes of crankbaits, spinner baits, soft plastics, jigs, and spinner baits etc. etc. Took the wife and I over 15 years to develop our collection of nice rods and reels. They totally cleaned us out of all our fishing equipment. They cut the Master pad lock off the storage unit and went to town. I regret not using one of the newer round disc locks that make it harder to cut off with a bolt cutters.

They got some nice stuff, 10 older Houston made Allstar rods, the wifes Shimao Calais and my new Abu Revo MGX. In fact they in all the scum got 12 ABU reels and rods from the 3000c to MGX.

So if you are using any older style pad locks please consider using the new disc locks, after looking around storage facility, it appeared I was the only one using the older style.

L-R-Bars are great but use the alarm lock they sell with it and know it is not full proof. Considering now what if any alarm upgrades to do the boat. Interesting they did not take the Lawrence HDS Touch 7 on the bow in a RAM mount. Bottom line if they want into your boat they will get into it but leets not make it too easy for them.

Sorry for you loss. This is the first time I have seen documented proof of a loc-r-bar being tore out. I have one along with an alarm. I hope they catch the thief and he gets his just reward.

Ive heard about those bars getting ripped out and causing more damage than if it weren't on there. That really sucks. Which storage place? I have buddies with boats in storage on HWY 17.

if they got in your storage and then closed the door they had all night. Lock r bars are still great if your at a hotel. I hate this happen.

Thanks,

First time I've seen a lock R bar removed like that, previously I had only seen where they took a saw to the fiberglass and just cut around the mounts. Sorry for your loss, hope the sorry SOB's get caught!

Hey look here, I hope they get caught and are given the max punishment. More than
likely your stuff is already pawned or sold so you won't see it again. Anyway I have
one of the Tom Mann Jr. All Star Carolina rig Houston made rods. I am not a Carolina rigger
so if you want it, it is yours. Just send me your address and I will hunt up a tube to ship it
to you or if you want I will give it to my SIL who lives in Denton and you and he can meet up
somewhere. Probably have a good Shimano reel I can send also.

Johnny
