I have caught some Bowfin down on Lake Tawakoni and as far as gar go if you are looking to big fish i would recommend fishing the red river.

I've caught bowfin in the river at RH and a couple places at Fork.
White Rock has a decent gar population
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart
