Can you eat em or not? And, does anybody ever catch them under the 820 bridge?

I've ate them before and I'm still alive. I've never caught anything under the bridge but I always see people fishing under there.

I hear that the locals do and have for a long time. If TPWD and DSHS say its ok, then I guess its ok.

I've eaten them for years. Fished under the bridge before. Its hit/miss...haven't done well this past 6 months...first not enough water, then too much. Now its just a matter of time. I caught a lot of small ones, but some keepers too. Good luck

I live about a mile from lake and have been catching and eating crappie since 1977. I mainly fish the south end of lake from 820 to dam. Used minnows, jigs and 1/8 ounce roadrunners. Caught them under bridge, but theres alot of little ones so you just have to move around. Boat docks hold them but you have to find them. Can't tell you how many I've caught in front of runway. Some small brushpiles have been placed by fisherman so you need electronics to find them. Reeds by bridge have also produced. They are there but I can't tell you everything. Kyakers can give you a little more info so when you go just stop by one or two of those guys and they will point you in the right direction.

Fished the bridge yesterday in tube, caught several small crappie and a channel cat. Those columns are different, that was the first time I'd been on that lake. They're large square columns, and I wasn't in my boat so i'm not sure what they looked like underneath the water.

How did the tube work for you?

Did you go early or late evening. Im thinking about hitting the bridge early Saturday morning in the tube before the boats get too bad.

Under Bridge at Each big square block there are about (ten ea. 2'X 2') square pylons that are normally easily fished around when water is about two foot from full pool.

That makes sense to me. I was only really fishing the perimeter of the them then.

fished for Crappie there from 1974-1980 and caught hundreds at a time. They tasted great !!
We caught them in the reeds fishing from rental canoes from the base, using cane poles and jigs.
Also at night with lanterens sitting right in the middle of the lake,...it was a blast.
This was back when the giant fence was at the end of the runway,..fun days.
