I have a EPIC CC with a fold up top. The top gets in the way when fishing on the back of boat. I,was thinking about getting a T top. I was wondering how much shade thy give and how much wind drag when in tow. I was told EPIC wants $4k for one. That sounds like a lot. is there any place in DFW installes them. You input would be appreciated. fish

"Burn Bar" is a raised grab rail so you can stand on the console and spot reds on the flats. Generic term.

Glenn at Custom Marine Concepts did min for my SeaArk. it was a piece of art and the price was more than right. It doesn't affect me fishing on the back deck at all and I really enjoy the shade.

Pros plenty of room to fish around them. Minimal shade but shade non the less.

Cons, If fishing East Texas lakes, low hanging limbs and low clearance bridges may destroy your investment.

$4000 sounds high, I would check out the prices down in
South Texas. May be worth towing down there to get it done, I am guessing you may save enough to justify the trip.

Personally I am not a fan of the T-tops, especially if you have friends who are fishing with your rods. Too many broken rods with the Bassmaster hooksets. I prefer a floppy hat and a buff on my face and no broken rods.

The top on my SeaArk was less that half what Epic wants for one. It may be worth a little gas to save a couple of thousand bucks.

A fellow had one of these on a black/red Epic, looked pretty sharp after he had the metal powder coated black.. I've talked myself out of a T-top for now, I just think it'd get in the way too much.

I have a 22' Sea Fox and I had a hard t top installed. I had Nautical Stuff do the work. I believe the owner of Nautical Stuff in Denison travels to the Epic manufacture to do work for them. I could be wrong, but that is what I heard. Nautical Stuff ordered the top itself from somewhere on the east coast. The same manufacture of my top also built the factory hard tops for Sea Fox. I love my TTop. On a windy day when you are navigating in tight area you may have a little effect from the wind. I know this sounds strange but I picked up about 1.5 mph hour after the T. top was installed. I love my hard t top. I would definitely choose a hard TTop over a soft TTop and I have had both. You do loose a little fishing real estate. On my 22' Center Console I can fish 4 comfortable. The advantages of the hard top include being able to flush mount lights speakers and other devices. I have fusion speakers, red LED lights flash mount along with my spreader lights. While both soft and hard tops offer shelter from rain and shade. A hard TTop blocks the heat from the sun a bit better.

Blue Tuna brings up a good point, that is, being able to mount lights. I have floods on the front and back of my T-top and can operate them independently from the console switch panel. It's also a good place to put the VHF if you want one but don't use it very often. My floods can be toggled between red and white and that makes is nice for night fishing or loading/unloading in the dark. I just can't think of a good reason to not have a T-top, except if you just don't want to spend the $$$. Mine is worth every dollar and then some.
