Good Morning. I live about 2 miles from Belton Dam. I have a very stable 12' Ocean Kayak. Normally use in light ocean surf and on Lake Belton. Right now they are releasing huge amounts of water from Belton due to the floods 5424 cfs. I want to Kayak the Leon from Miller Springs park to the Bridge near Summer fun Water park, approx 7 miles. I want to just kayak it once to evaluate it for fishing in the future. Anyone interested? It is pretty heavy flow, no rapids. There is a 2 ft waterfall past the bridge or I would go further. We can use 2 vehicles, one for drop off one for pick up. I want to do this before the lake is level and the flow decreases. I work until 5 pm daily but would consider any day after work including today or this weekend. I am a 49 year old retired Soldier (I don't want to go with any teen agers, beyond that I am open, even to a group if a bunch want to go). Thanks Chris (aka Jamoke) ph # 210-381-4309. I don't always pick up when at work but will return the call ASAP.

7 miles of untested river might take longer than a single evening will allow. You really should allow as much time as possible to do the first float during daylight hours because after dark things get spooky.

The flow is pretty stout. 5 PM til dark is a long time. I appreciate the concern. The 7 miles is not completely isolated, there are plenty of places to discontinue the trip if needed. I just want to got before this river turns back to a trickle and is not passable by Kayak without lots of portage.

I went Saturday AM with a terrific group! the water flow was pretty high, a couple of yaks got caught in the tress and flipped, no one was injured. once away from the shore it was a nice ride. I went again last night, this time alone. Very serene. the flow is less than on the weekend, I think this will be the pattern. as the lake is near the full level. Text me if you want to meet up. I live 2 miles from the dam and the yak is ready to go. 210-381-4309 Chris (AKA Jamoke)

1rst time with high flow 5000 CFS took about 1 hour 30 min just letting the current take us, second time with lower flow 3500CFS and light active paddling 1 hr. the flow is now less than 2000CFS. I may give it a try again this weekend.
