Hey guys,

I have a Triton TR21X with a Mercury 225. Currently I am running a 27 pitch prop which is great for top end but the hole shot is pretty sluggish. I am interested to know what pitch props others are running and \ or recommend.

Thanks for the info.

I'm running a 25p TrophyPlus on my 225. Hole shot is good but want more top end. You might try a 25p.

+1 on Steve. Sounds like you're over propped to me. 25p would be better, particularly in this heat. What are your top RPMs at WOT with your 27?

I would go with a 25p Fury or 25p Tempest. Steve can tweak them for you to get it where you can get the most out of it. You will also need to work on your setup as well to get optimum performance as it relates to your engine height and jackplate setting. Good luck and every boat and motor combo are different to where they hit the sweet spot.

The RPM's at WOT are north of 5000 rpm's but honesty I don't need it as 65 is fast enough for me. With the constantly changing water levels here in South Texas + me only living here 2 years I am not familiar enough with the lakes yet anyhow to let it fully stretch out. I am taking you guys advice and dropping to a 25P. Will work with Steve as well. I really appreciate the help.

Just got rid of my TR21X with a Merc 225. Out of the box, 26p Tempest Plus worked best for me. Unreal hole shot, and would hit six grand on a cold morning. I still have one. I'm going to try it on my new 250 ProXS.
I ran a 25p at first. Too many RPM. You know any tweaking done by any prop guy is lost first time you nick a stump or run it in sand.

Same boat and motor. Ran a 26p trophy for years. Good holeshot, mid 60s, could have used more rpm. Dealer switched me to a 24p fury recently. Still a great holeshot, running near the Rev limit, top end upper 60s with full load and two guys. Boat runs so good it's hard to trade up after 10 years. But the itch is coming.
