Had about a 80 percent success rate today, a few bad poor due to temperature of lead and unsteady hands I guess. Also started construction of my fluid bed today, bought a air pump and powder aswell. Should be making more progress in the am.

80% sure beats my success rate when I started pouring lead. Let me know if you have any issues with powder coating.

Brad, That is a very fancy fluid bed!!! This is a 2", I have 3" that are built very similar.

It's not to fancy kinda modified a design I saw online. I built it for about 12 bucks, have about half what I need to build a second one left over. Got the pump, blk powdercoat, and I think everything I need to start powder coating tomorrow with exception of a oven.

 Got my valve installed and base glued in tonight should be able to try it out with my paper sack filters in a few hours.

Was just teasing, it reeally looks good  mine is simple like me, I can remove the powder, so with 2 beds going, I can insert or remove easily. What kind of valve? I have looked at brass valves, but they cost about $5 on amazon. I have a couple ovens, but have used a small toaster oven, turned up side down. I ran a wire across between the door and the heating elements. I can take some pictures if you want. Upside down, I open and close the door, which is easier for me. One other thing that i have done in the past is to use an alcohol lamp to heat the jig head, dip, then hang. Once I get them dipped, I cure in the masses

I just picked up a .99 valve petco had next to the pumps price was right. Might not regulate well but it's worth shot.

Wow! My fluid beds are very simple. Threaded fitting, threaded plug. That's all I need is the two pieces of PVC and the cup. Also the best air pump I've found is this one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JPE...ailpage_o06_s00 It will run four 3" beds with no problem. The little pumps from Walmart just don't cut it with many powder paints. As for valves I've been using either Clippard MNV-4 or Fabco NV-55. Both of which are true needle valves. I was using stock I had on hand but I'm now out of both. I do have 10 Ideal valves I may use. Nothing like using a $100 needle valve on a $5 fluid bed. The Clippard valve works just fine and can be purchased at a distributor for under $20. Totally blows the plastic valves away. For heating the product before dipping I use a electric frying pan or a hot plate and a frying pan. Then I use the toaster ovens for curing.

 My overkill fluid bed seams to work out okay, might need to invest a little more money in a better pump down the road but think my cheap petco pump is getting the job done at the moment. Now I guess I gotta find me a toaster over, because I sure don't want to see the boss lady's face if she finds out I had fishing baits in the oven. Lol Thanks for all the advise, anything else that can be added to help a newbie out would be great.

I like that pump, caddie of the pumps too! I have tried both valves, plastic are inexpensive, and they work, especially with Fluidization Membrane.

Heat the head less when you powder coat them. If you don't get a good coverage, you can always dip them again. You can't undo it once it is on there and it will always leave the extra on the top of the jig coat after curing. Great looking baits regardless.
