I'm planning a family vacation next month. With all the rain I'm not real sure where to head. I would like to rent an air conditioned cabin for a few days. Something near a lake, creek or river. I usually enjoy fishing for panfish with a fly rod. I'm looking mainly for something in the central Texas area but not limited to that. From that point I can research other attractions and family activities in the local area. We mainly just enjoy relaxing, cooking out, hiking, fishing and swimming for a few days anyway.
All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try Bluegill Lakes Cabins near Athens. Athens is not that far from the hill country. They have some huge bluegills in large ponds. The cabins are air conditioned and comfortable. Click for their web page.

Click for their web page. Plus #1 on the Bluegill Cabins! I have never been but plan on making a trip there next year. Also if you are leaving the state I would give the "TNPondManager" a Call and fish some of his ponds!
IGFA World Record Rio Grande Cichlid. Lake Dunlap. John 3:16 Sinner's Prayer. God forgive me a sinner. I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior !

Just what do you consider far?!?! I was hoping to stay within about a 4 to 6 hour drive. We didn't want to stray to far away from home on this trip.

Two places you may want to Google. Inks Lake State Park and the Perdernales State Park. Great bank areas with some nice fish. Also good areas for the fly rod.
