Maybe break up the lines a little so they aren't so defined and add some iridescent turquoise to the back. I would be proud to have painted that one as it is. You have some skills that I wish I had.

...looks tilapia, put a black stripe on the nose and mess up the lines. Not sure what this means. Are you saying put a black stripe across the nose and mess up the lines (scales above and below the lateral line) to make a Tilapia pattern? PM me a picture of the Tilapia if you have one, please. I've had some TFF folks ask me to paint a Tilapia pattern. I'd like to give it a try. Thx.

Isn't this a blk crappie? The white crappie pattern bait imo are great, it's a.very hard pattern to produce because they are all different and most crappie pattern baits are done on the patterns of blk crappie. More splotches with the blk crappie and less vertical lines like the baits pictures above. I think they baits are very well done maybe the lines are a little to clean, but the fish can't tell anyway when the bait is wobbling through the water. I like the choice of baits that you used, the coffin bill with flat sides should be a good producer on tough days.

here's a drawing that clearly points out the difference in appearance of the black and white crappies.

here's a drawing that clearly points out the difference in appearance of the black and white crappies. Good pic BC. Not unusual for folks to get the two confused. I used a stencil on this one and the results were vertical lines a little too straight...will freehand the next batch. Brad's correct, too...black crappie is a much simpler pattern to paint and coffin bill lure blanks are great for crappie...right shape and size. Fished the White Crappie lure yesterday...looks good in the water and has a great action...nothing at that depth...everything I caught was over 10 foot deep. Thanks to JimSr, TXmed & senko. Comments are appreciated....broken vertical lines and darker backbone

My crappie patters look more like baby bass so I can't say anything negative about anyone else's crappie.

Thinking this is what a lot of folks are calling Tilapia. The Texas Cichlid is the only member of the cichlid family that is native to the United States, being found in the lower Rio Grande in Texas. It's a black or dark gray, fine-spotted fish with darker vertical lines, spiny fins and a smallish mouth. Texas cichlids, like most cichlids, aren't picky about food and will bite on just about anything put in front of it
