I've been throwing my shakey heads on braid ( 20 lb) with a fluro leader. Would I be better off going with straight fluro.
I throw everything on braid with a fluro leader-just don't know if this is the best way to fish shakey heads.

I throw everything on braid with a fluro leader-just don't know if this is the best way to fish shakey heads. It depends on what you like. When I throw a shaky head on spinning tackle (a Power Tackle rod) I use braid with a fluorocarbon leader because with the braid I don't get line twist like you do with a spool full of fluorocarbon. When I use the bait caster (Dobyns Ex.703) I use all fluorocarbon line since you don't get line twist with that type reel. I fish a shaky head on the bait caster most of the time. Other bait casters I have used in the past were a Powell Max 683 and a Max 703 and a Kistler Helium 6ft9in and 7ft M/H. I think a 3 power rod is just perfect for shaky heads up to a 1/4oz in weight. When I throw a shaky head heavier than a 1/4oz I go to a 7-6 Kistler LTA H. Even though it is a H action it has a tip action like many other brands in a M/H. Kistler Heluims have a lot of tip action designed in the rod.
