OK. please clear this up.
have been told 3 different things.
do I need a chirp t-ducer with the new Gen 3 or not?
what about the sonar hub if you do need another t-ducer for the true chirp.
a lot of money and not exactly what I was expecting !!!!!

I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning !!!

Don't need sonar hub with Gen3. You will get a better image with the Gen3 running Chirp vs Gen2 without. I have both. However, to get the best results with your Chirp unit, you will need to get an Airmar chirp transducer. They are expensive and not worth the money in my opinion for the depth you will fish in freshwater. Hope this helps.

ok. thanks.
so the downscan on the G3 is basically the chirp?
using the same frequency as the sidescan? running basic out the box setup and just not getting the separation and clarity I was expecting.

Chirp is strictly sonar. It has nothing to do with side/down image.

speaking of chirp SUAF -- have you figured out any good way to mount a chirp transducer to a terrova yet? I'm reading that the cable is too thick to fit in the notch through the collar.

Only sonar. What is your frequency set on? Select "High Chirp" in your sonar frequency menu.

If the transducer is compatible with the Chirp unit, The transducer selection on the unit will give you the options available based on the transducer: ie high chirp, medium chirp, low chirp

Lowrance transducer cables whether "chirp" or non "chirp" are larger than the Humminbird transducer cable and will have trouble when running/placing in the grove of the Terrova motor/shaft.
