Right now just a 16 john boat. But in a few year I'm sure I'll be looking at a bass boat with a 150.

Should be good up to about 6-7k lbs including passengers. I think you'd be happy with it for your purposes. Probably couldn't even tell that Jon boat is behind it.

Yea, the Jon is pretty light weight. Not sure when or if I'll get a larger bass boat. But I would like to think ahead and get a truck that could handle the heavier load down the road if needed. I've heard all kind of good stuff about the "Ford Eco". Bit haven't heard much about the Dodge Diesel yet.

There is a Ram1500Diesel forum that I've been reading for the last year. You should be able to find answers there as to how well it tows. Its a very good tow vehicle up till its upper limits. No Ecoboost in power loaded or unloaded but it will get you good fuel efficiency.

Think you would be fine with your boat or any bass/average sized boat.
Most i have heard of folks having trouble with them towing is people pushing the tow rating max and in the mountains.

Pretty much any half ton can tow any bass boat. The ecodiesel looks like a good, reliable truck that should get excellent mpg.

The half ton diesel with the most get up and go and power is the Titan. The one that gets the best fuel economy will be the Ram.

Is the diesel titan out yet?
I wouldn't even compare those two, the only similarity is they run on diesel. One is designed to be a beast and the other is designed to sip fuel. They fill two completely different needs.

Also I read the titan was attempting to run without DEF and only use a DPF like the early 6.7 cummins did, I sure hope they have things figured out better this time round than last.

The new Titan will run DEF if its the one they have at the shows. Its a V8 too and while its being tested its still a new engine.
The Ram 1500 diesel and 8 speed transmission was initially designed to go into a Caddy. They decided not to use it for that. Its been running in Europe for a couple years so its a tested motor.
I've heard there may be two versions of the Titan. A heavy and regular duty, all chassis and parts differences. They will have the same Aisin transmission 6 speed used in the Ram 6.7 Cummins.
