Any of you that know Butch and I know, that we're a very BIG supportive of Bass Champs, but I can personally say I'm very disappointed. Apparently there was a verbal agreement earlier in the year that Bass Champs was not going back to the Red River, which is why Texas Bass Couples scheduled our Championship there. Now, we cannot fish our Championship because of the off limit rule. I had heard so much about the Red River and was really looking forward to fishing it this year. This really only impacts the couples that fishes the Northeast Region of TBC, but it's going to be a BIG impact on the overall affect of the Texas Bass Couples Championship. We may not be as BIG as Bass Champs, but we all work hard to put on a good tournament and then something like this happens. This takes away my vacation and a chance to fish a Championship!

Cant believe they are doing it on the red river again! Low weights, boat damage, nowhere to stay, etc... I wont be there, good luck!

I've got a boat made just for that place that I'd probably part with since my new career is going to keep me off the water for a while! Wish I could have fished a season and qualified I'm jelous

AND if you did, was it enough tournaments to qualify for the championship? My experience over the last few years is the guys that complain about Champs going to the Red River don't even fish the events much less qualify to fish it. We've been there the last 2 year and are really happy to go back again. It's a great trip and about as well run of a big event you will find. This year also carries even more intrigue in that the entire place is going to have to be learned all over again due to the flooding. Also, The weights aren't that low although many lakes in Texas would be better that time of year. Now that this year's Championship will be a 5 fish limit I would expect somewhere around 30-35# to win the event over the 2 days.

We are looking at this as a fun challenge. We got spanked last year down there, but the atmosphere is second to none. The conditions will be the same for each angler and should be very exciting!

Cant believe they are doing it on the red river again! Low weights, boat damage, nowhere to stay, etc... I wont be there, good luck! Huh? Low weights were most likely due to the 3 fish limit. There were several good fish caught last year. Granted it isn't full of 5 pounders but there are decent fish. We've also fished there for two consecutive years and have yet to hear of mass casualties regarding boat damage. The most extensive thing we saw last year was a broken talon. We did see a few guys running between the channel markers and the bank rather than between markers, but that's their own fault. AND the basschamps flyer has 14 different hotels that are on the discount list, and dozens of others that are not, for 500 anglers I think 20+ hotels with 200+ rooms each is plenty of living space. COME''on MAN!

I wish we could have fished enough events to qualify for the championship, I am kind of sad hearing it's headed back to the Red River.
So many ways to catch nice fish there. Very diverse fishery.
Not sure why anyone would complain about the Red.
