We had a small little benefit tourney this weekend at Cedar Creek and I just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
My partner was driving his boat on plane and was doing about 40 MPH and was heading under the 198 bridge in Clear Creek, he finally realized the clearance was very low, and backed off too late and wiped out his front pedestal seat.

Bridges are no wake zones for a reason!

Not all bridges are no wake zones only if they are marked .

Per TPWD:

OPERATE BOAT W/IN 100 OF BRIDGE @ GREATER THAN HEADWAY SPEED

$185

Nothing about posting/bouy. Quite a few of us are in jeopardy of a fine (myself included) running the boat lanes that parallel the bridges.

33 yards is pretty close, isn't paralleling 50-75 yards away then OK?

Yep, according to the regs... Yards/feet, water makes it hard for me to judge miles even. I'm probably legal all the time if I am running the old road beds.

I fished there this weekend and wondered why so may boats blasted through the middle of the 198 bridge. There we only buoys on the ends, not in the middle. So I guess a lot of people thought they were good.
BTW the fine is $264.32 if you pay by credit card. No fun. I learn most lessons the hard way.

I had no clue that was the rule, as they were not marked in the middle.

Give him a pass on the ticket and send him the DA award. Anybody should be able to see that bridge is to low to run under safely.

Man, what a DA! This would never happen to me! I'm perfect!

You should fish with smarter people or ones who pay better attention!

I'm one of the most observant people you'll ever meet but it happened! Still can't explain it, but it happened!

Good lesson after driving boats for 45 years!
cheers
