First, I fished for a bit at Crowley Park in Richardson this morning...no bites...dangit!
I decided to drive over and check out the Twin Lakes Park ponds near Campbell/Coit. Another fisherman was just leaving, 'bout 10:30 am, and we chatted. He only caught one small bass, but said he could see bass feeding on the bream that were near the edges. I decided to try for a bit, and I did see several bass go for the feeders, but I could not land anything. I got a few bites, but there is a lot of moss near the south end of the "south" pond. There is also a caged in area in each pond...I don't know, maybe there is a dead fountain in each. Regardless, I caught my favorite lure in the fence while I was trying to cast parallel to it. I could not get it out, and I finally broke the string trying. I can only imagine how many lures are in that fence. I "will" get my favorite lure back. I plan on swimming out there and retrieving it. I know the exact spot and could see the lure stuck on the fence near the cement base. I would have done it then, but it was again, Sunday morning, many people out walking and a dad/son team fishing nearby. I'm going to get on my swim trunks and go get it! Yep...probably at dusk tonight! If not tonight, it will be this week, but we'll see...

Addendum: I'll take a few photos for those who cannot picture what I describe. Heck, I may have Kim video my caper!

Man, are you throwing gold plated crack baits or something? No lure is worth the trouble.

Part of the reason I don't fish with anything over 3 bucks.

Those ponds used to be fun. They drained them a few years back and killed a lot of the big ones. It get gets hit hard so light line is kinda important. We used to fish of the " overflow drain " and swim out to them and fish on them. A lot of fish in there people have put in from other lakes. Blue cats, Sandies, and even a couple hybrids have been caught in there. I would not recommend eating the fish out of there either. All that water is from the city sewers from runoff. Every chemical that was in the street or in peoples yards is in there now.

What are the good ponds in the area?

By the way, it was a mucky success. I got my lure back...now I know how deep the water is! I just started using the jointed sunfish, and the swim and slow dive action is so good. I wanted this one back, besides, it was not a far swim for retrieval, and I could see the lure from the bank.

...wisdom? I don't know, but it was an experience!

LOL I love that you went and got it!!!

Breckinridge, Crowley, Duck Creek, Canyon Creek, Pond at Richland College, Huffines Park, Cottonwood Park....

For the record Twin Lakes isn't in Richardson. Coit Rd is the Richardson border.

I caught a 8+ out of there a few years ago (north pond) ill post a picture tonight when I get home. I went to UTD so I fished it a lot back before I graduated, we did well on shakey heads, drop shots, and spinner baits

Some evidence of the event...under my arm is the structure I swam to for the lure. There is a cement base with a low chain fence surrounding it. Once I got the lure I turned and pushed off the cement wall to go back to shore. However, there was no wall down to the ground, and my legs went underneath, sort of like the squared-in area pulled on my legs a bit. It was creepy, and trying to swim with shoes on is tough. I'm a really good swimmer, but I did not want to go in shoeless! It was a neat chore/caper, and Kim got a kick out of it while taping.

Addendum: I timed it so that it would be dusk. I did not want people seeing me go in, but as we drove to the pond, the sun went down fast. It was getting dark quicker than the photo shows.

Which pond at Brekinridge, isn't Duck Creek a golf course? Ever since they dyed Crowley Pond it seems the bass shut down, makes me sad since it is only 5 minutes from work!

From the other Breckenridge topic, the west pond off Renner is basically dead, but the east pond off Renner is decent. I caught a couple of bass there two weeks ago, but only two after 2 hours. The park pond has good recommendations, but I have not tried it yet. There seems to be no reprieve from the sun's heat.

Breckinridge Park pond on the East pond off Renner rd.....those two....

Duck Creek is from CVS (beltline/jupiter) to Plano Rd/Arapaho....runs through that neighborhood. Crosses Yale/Apollo by the elementary school there....several good pools that hold fish....it does get pressure but there are a bunch of 2-3lb bass in there and a ton of bluegill for kids! Lots of ducks to feed there as well...

I've seen some decent sized bass on that stretch of creek off Beltline/Jupiter, parallel to Ponderosa Drive. Mr. Bogey gave me some tips there. I haven't been back in a while, but I did not go up the first two pockets of water right there by the Beltline bridge, but I may soon.
