When fishing a lake point for channel cats which is better, a gradual point taper or a point that drops quickly to 25 feet of water?

Either one if there is some type of structure that will hold the cats.

Try to find a creek close by ,where it slopes downward to deeper water is what I do.Or f und an old pond in the Lake with tree on the bank.Hope this helps PM ME I will go into better details if u like.
