Prepare for a crowd. The gunnison fishes great and there are many access points. If you are fly fishing, dry flies will include stimulator and caddis in light tan... Usual suspects for nymphs

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I am interested in information as well. Have a Bachelor Party to attend in mid August. We have a cabin a little ways down from the golf course in town. It is right on the Rio Grande gold medal water sections so looking for tips as well. I have heard the Gunnison is good but it looks further North. Looking for tips on the Rio Grande if anyone has it. Thanks

There are a couple of public access to the Rio between South fork and Creede. Never had much luck in the river. However there are lots of small streams with easy access in the Creede area. Stop by the Ramble House Fly Shop (downtown Creede) and pick up a map. They have always been very helpful. Good fishing!

Where are you staying in South Fork? I'm heading up there in a few weeks to fish. There are a few locations above Creede (Box Canyon) that hold some pretty decent fish. Use big yellow streamers and you should do fairly well. Ramble House will give you some good information especially if you want to do a float trip with them. PM me and ill give you some more details.

Dry flies work pretty well on a lake during this time of year

Was there this time last year. The river was high and the fishing great. Caught quite a few in the Wagon Wheel Gap area and did a 5 mile float trip above Creed.
