Good problem to have for sure. Our lake jumped 5ft and all the spots we were catching them in are 30/40yrds from the bank now. Water is starting to clear but still heavy stained. My boys went from 40 to 50 fish a day to 0 yesterday. Now it's time for dad to find them again........uh oh.

All this rain and rising lake levels has defiantly changed some patterns. Water conditions are settling down some and the bite is starting to pick up. Here in the San Antonio area the spawn is winding down and the sunfish are starting to go into a little deeper water. Getting some nice ones is 8 to 12 feet of water by docks and in boat slips. Also fish are starting to hang around by overhanging tree limbs and sunken structure. Hope you find em and let us know how you do.

I will post results. I've ment to take enough pics for a good report but never remember to.
You said the bite is picking up since the water is settling? How long did it throw stuff off for y'all? We finally got the rain Tuesday and not a lot has had time to settle. Might throw us of a week or two? Or are they still catchable just gotta work harder?

May and June have been rough months. The river lakes on the Guadalupe River had very strong currents and the water temperatures were much cooler than normal due to a lot of water being released from Canyon Lake. The release has been stopped and Canyon is one foot above the full level. The release was stopped July 1 and the river lakes are just now settling down. The rivers have also been hard to fish with strong currents and flooded away brush piles. We have had eight days without rain and things are starting to dry out and the water is clearing up nicely. I think it is only going to get better each day. Right now I have been fishing creeks and ponds. I have also fished the Sabinal River and some southwest area ponds and did super good. Will be posting a report soon.

Good deal thanks banker. I need to go scout a few ponds I know of until things clear up... That's a great plan. You may just find a super new spot. I think the sunfish bite will get better over all each day. We should have a great mid/late summer bite and the fall bite should be FANTASTIC!

Blues, Lake Somerville got to 20 ft. above pool and overflowed the spillway. The lake is still 15 ft. above normal. I wouldn't have any clue where to start to find them so I didn't, LOL. But I have found a lot of new areas to fish in the creeks. You may want to try exploring in those areas as well.

Thanks fellas. I'll be honest I chase catfish 95% of the time, but my boys have just about got me hooked on light tackle panfish. Big cats are spread out and hard to pattern during the summer and I was sure we'd found the new summer fun, then it flooded...we'll find them again and report, thanks again.

Those dots are a kind of parasite that can affect both sunfish and perch...

All little fish, but they had a blast. Thanks for all the advice, encouragement, and reports fellas. Don't get me wrong my catfish gear is here to stay, but panfish and kids seem to mix well. The younger 2 are high strung and need action to keep them involved. So their "bubba" and myself take them from time to time "perch jerking". Big props to this forum section for helping us!!
Me and the oldest were talking this morning over coffee, and agreed that we had lots of fun finding new places to fish. Even if what we catch is small compared to the bait we use when catfishing.

Great stuff Blues!!!
The good thing is you can find small green sunfish in almost every creek and pond in the area. All the creeks and ponds went dry in 2011 around our area. Yet I can still find small greenies in every one of them.
