This wind has been terrible these last several days. Aside from hiding out in coves, how do you deal with fishing in the wind? For me, I don't like fishing in windy conditions and would just as soon sit at home and drink beer.

Stay on the trolling motor and hold around/over the fish. Deep, that is. Shallow I just drop my power poles.

I agree. The wind down here in South Texas has been pretty rough. Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with the wind. Wind makes fishing better but running the trolling motor gets tiring. yawn
I prefer to fish in wind that's in a range of 5-20mph. I love to fish really shallow humps during the wind because it pushes the baitfish on top of/around the hump. Bass will group in schools and chase the baitfish all over the hump. It's fast and furious, and it can fill your limit quickly. Wind over 15mph, I throw moving baits or a carolina rig with a heavy weight.

Suck it up and fish out in the rough stuff if the fish are there.

If not, go shallow or home ...

The wind has been helping my bite on the last few lakes I have fished this past week. Also makes fishing all day a bit easier since it feels cooler.

Some of the best deep cranking days I've had were while taking waves over the bow when I was on the trolling motor. Thats what they make butt seats and sandals for. cheers

I dare you to launch at the County Ramp today (or any of the last seven) and run to Tigers...

Be sure to put your nuts in a Koozie first.. There's whitecaps breaking on the ramp..

Days like today break off depth finders and trolling motors.. Yesterday would have been the windshields too..

So yeah.. It's laying down..

I do prefer a breeze, but would prefer to not have to koozie up the boys and hold my hat down. I recall one trip where my carpet sucked up nearly a whole bottle of jack thanks to the wind while fishing Dale Creek. Yea- I was young and stupid. I now use a sippy cup banana

Minn Kota Terrova or Motorguide Xi5 with 60" shafts spot-locked over deep structure works wonders in high winds.

My bass tracker really gets pushed by the wind, I hope to get at least one talon or power pole in the near future

Minn Kota Terrova or Ulterra with the "anchor lock" option. Great for windy points.
you can fish all day long and not have to touch the T/M. Wouldn't have a boat without one now.
