Hello all! I'm new to this forum (obviously) and I was looking for some help. I have been down that way once with my 5 year old son and only caught catfish. He had a great time but I couldn't help think that I wanted better fish. We were there last weekend. Anyway, I was just looking for some tips on where to fish.

left side, right side?
rigs?
how far down?
best bait?
alive or plastics?
Times?

Thank you to all who respond. I'll probably get down there again in a couple weeks and I want to be really prepared.

I have gone 2-3 times, but have yet to catch a single fish there. This is what I have read by people who have caught fish there though.

Fish the right side close to the end with a fish finder rig. Good times are usually during high tide.
Baits(mostly reds and black drum): Shrimp, mullet, crab, squid

I have seen videos of people fishing with lights at night and using artificials for trout and maybe flounder.

Thanks for the heads up. I heard that the end is good. Thanks for the tip on the tide. Didn't even think about that.

Would you recommend somewhere else. I would love to get my hands on some trout or reds.

Also, fish from the bottom or keep the bait suspended?

if thats not working go across the street... if thats not move farther down

haven't been over there since Ike tore up the pier.

get there during the low tide, gives you time to set up for the incoming tide.

right side and very end has a high chance of getting hung up on the rocks and debris(bring lots of sinkers and hooks). left side(beach) you can wade or throw out long lines and soak. night time with lights/generator or early morning for specks.

dead shrimp works for sand trout, whiting, croaker, spadefish, grunts and piggy perch. hermit crabs and fiddlers for sheepshead and black drum. minnows or baby piggy perch for flounder. blue crab and small croakers for red drum.

fall and spring are the best seasons to go.

Is it worth fishing on the left side if you don't wade out there? My son is only 5 and can't swim great yet.

Would you just use a sinker and hook set up or a bubble?
