I plan on going to Granger lake this weekend to take my son fishing. He has never caught a crappie, and is chomping at the bit to do so! Are there any particular colors/size jigs that are working particularly well right now? We don't know the lake, so we will be fishing blind until we can find some type of structure.
Any and all advice appreciated, as I want to make this a good trip for him. Thanks in advance everyone!

Last time I went (which was before the flood), jigs with an orange color produced best.

Wilson Fox park has two boat ramps. Scan the shore between them, about half way, 10 to 12 ft water, and you will find brushpiles. Directly across the lake finger from there are two submerged gravel pits along the north shore. If you look at the map on navionics.com, you will clearly see where they are.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I Know I'm late, but good luck. Search the fox park shore line and if you know what brush piles look like you will find them and a few fish. Good luck fighting the wake boats and skiers. They are thick on the weekends.

Thanks guys. We went this morning (even though my son wasn't feeling up to it), and were able to locate a couple of spots. We didn't get to fish too long before we had to leave...no fish, but we did get a few "thumps" on the rod. We are new to this crappie thing, so we have a learning curve, but we will get there. Also, y'all are right about the jetskis...after a while, they really tear up the water and make it hard to stay in one spot.
We will hit it again next weekend when the boy feels a little better. Thanks again for the replies!
