Why is COE holding the flood waters back? The Trinity appears to be well within its banks. Not asking for wide open but some flow would help. Or perhaps they are relying on evaporation.

I know JP is dropping about an inch a day.... May not reopen until November. The state park has now closed because the soil has shifted and caused water lines to break also.

prob i think is that both lake lewisville and grapevine are releasing water into trinity so i think you need to make sure they are releasing the same rate to not overflow the trinity or flood the lands down stream

There are several lakes in line to release to the Trinity River Basin... Ray Roberts, then Lewisville, then Grapevine. They have to get Lewisville down before they can release Ray Roberts, then Lewisville down again before they start letting lots of water out of Grapevine. Some of the reason for todays rates being slow could be due to the flood watch North Texas is under. The COE does have methods to their madness... releases up here affect release rates of lakes as far away as Sam Rayburn.

I'm fine with the grapevine water level I've been catching big smallies everyday out there in the weirdest places.
