When fishing creek channels in a lake what type of features do you look for? Do you fish the edge or right in it.? What area of the creek channel is best?

Early morning and night they will be up on the flats along the edges. Daytime they may drop back down to deeper water depending on time of year and how hot it is.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Muzzlebrake nailed it. They'll feed up in the flats when the temp let's them. Summer heat with a thermocline in most lakes means oxygen, water temp, then bait in that order tells you where they should be. That's why channels produce fish. Cooler, deeper, and near shallow flats for the bait. Start just above the thermocline and work your way shallower until you find them.

I brought home and fileted 10 eaters today. Caught all of them fishing 2 feet deep under a cork in 3 ft water up in a creek channel. Ran my tracker boat as far up in the weeds as I could and fished out the back right on the edge of the weeds. Threw back 4 or 5 that were under my 14" limit. My home made bait of course. Only fished with one rod and didn't get out there until after 8am so I was late. Today could have been better.
