so it looks like both of these will fit the 998 hd si humminbird... thoughts on why they are so different in price?

The ball sizes and the weight capacities are different. Go to the Ram Mount website and do some research. They have a page where you can put in a specific model FF and it will tell you the recommended mount.

Check out BalZout mounts, way better and don't slip like the rams do.

I like the balzout mounts as well, but with that being said I have never had a single problem with my Ram mounts moving on my 1198's bow or console. Not sure what this ole boy is talking about.

I guess some do and some don't. I had two and one slipped constantly in rough water. There are three pages of post about them slipping on BBC.
