We spent the holiday weekend at my wife's aunt and uncle's lake house in Fort Towson Ok. I new they keep a fiberglass canoe on their boat dock so i grabbed a three weight and a box of poppers on our way out the door to head up there. Yesterday morning i slipped out early with my fly rod, poppers, Nikon and a couple of bottles of water. Here is my story.

Nosing up into a cove of reeds and pads, that is about as good as it gets. Thank you for the share.

The little snapping turtle looks startled, lol.
Looks like fun. Thanks for taking us along.
Gonna spend some time at a small lake this week. Hoping for some similar action.

That is a real fishy looking lake, nicely done on the 3 weight.

Thanks guys!
I wanted to pull my boat up there but my wife said no, that we supposed to spend " family time". Turned out to be a good deal, the canoe was just romantic as heck out there. I got lucky. I didn't have much time but Everything just worked out for me. I found some fish pretty quickly and the wildlife just seemed to come my way. May have to go back for a visit in the fall and spend more time on the water ( in the canoe).

Oh, and Kirk, those crazy eyes are what got my attention. It took me a few photos before I realized it was a baby snapping turtle. All the ones I have ever seen were big enough to, at least, take a few toes.

Linecaster - someone that spent more time with a rod in there hands instead of a camera could probably do some damage on that lake.

I always believe in the pictures as they define the trip, your photo's are outstanding and tell a story. The fish you caught are what makes me love fishing for with ultra light fly rods.
