There is a story behind this/ Last month, myself, Banker-always-fishing, USMC Mike and my dear old friend Mutt, AKA Olhipi on the forum were at Potters Creek park enjoying our 2nd Annual Guadalupe River Fishing Retreat. We had just finished a meal of catfish, fries, hush puppies and boudain balls and were sitting under the cover talking ands telling lies, like all of us anglers do, and the subject of Chemdawg and all that he does for disabled vets and the kids of fallen soldiers came up. I had exchanged several messages with Lewis, AKA Chemdawg and knew all about his physical and neurological problems, and how physically draining it was to take the vets fishing and how he spent the next day on the sofa recovering from a fishing trip. Lewis had told me how hard it was to crawl in and out of his boat to load and unload because of his back issues and that it was equally hard on some of the vets he took fishing because some of them were amputees. At some point in the conversation there wasn't a dry eye at the table and I said, you know, Lewis does all of this stuff for his fellow soldiers and asks nothing in return, why don't we do something nice for him. I mentioned that Lewis had seen my trailer steps posted on TFF and said he would really like to have a set like them to help him and the vets. I said to Mutt, "I'll pay you to build a set of steps for Chemdawg and I'll get them to him. Mutt said, no, you won't pay me, I'll just build them, you get them to him and help him put them on, send me a can of his catfish bait so I can try it and we'll call it even.
So, lo and behold, my old friend Mutt shows up at my place in Austin saturday to help me eat a brisket and he brought the steps for Lewis. As soon as Lewis gets his trailer out of the shop, I'll go up there and mount the steps.
I'm going to say it right here, Mutt, you're a good man for doing that and that's one of the reasons that I have loved you like a brother for close to 30 years. There's just nothing quite like country generosity. May we all have many more fishing trips.

A side note. There is also a hand rail that slips down over the post that is sticking up on the step mounting plate. Mutt made the handrail so it could be removed and is held in place with a hitch coupler pin. Great job, buddy.
